![]() They were a world powerhouse and deserve their own story.Īlso that quote of PhillipRE about their priority made me think back to an old favorite RTS of mine back in the day: Command & Conquer: Generals. To have the Japanese in Italy would not be doing that Japanese faction any favors. "Our main priority is not to provide a history lesson but to spark curiosity, and to tell these stories in a way that is authentic and respectful." ![]() Philip RE already stated in his Campaign Narrative Thread: It's gotta be in it's own dedicated coh 4 campaign. I agree with oldbait and I said from the start it cannot be lumped in as a DLC or added faction in Italy/Africa. Because battles are played out in a very different way in the pacific compared to europe and the japanese would almost have no armor.Īnd since they need to balance the US/Britts faction to a german faction with good armor this would be hard to implement in this game U say british can be in this game, the little small nation that just defended them selves on the island praying and japanese cant be in this game, that nation that conquered a quarter of the planet in 2 years beating powers that had 100x the population and the resources, with highly trained infantry and discipline. So how u got to the conclusion Japanese does not fit where British fit? British that never won a battle physically in WW2 =))) British were totaly 0. U want realism? then make that British tanks take double the dmg of German tanks cuz in Coh2 they resist too well to be real, in reality they were paper against Germans, in reality the only tanks were Germans, the rest were a joke. So, see? where is the need of an OP heavy tank to make a civ playable on multiplayer? U say relic wants realism? Well a ww2 game without both the 2 main actors of it (Germany and Japan) is pure fantasy. They had tons of light vehicles also, and ofc top high tech on warships and submarines but I get it, u cant integrate them in COH3. ![]() They can make some commander powers to bring a mitshubishi zero fighter on the ground to suicide attack a Sherman and it will disappear in a blink of an eye. Tanks will be scarce, and will not be mandatory to win LOL. The Japanese would not suck at all, this game, as said in the presentation, will have a more COH1 approach then a COH2 one, so the focus will be on infantry, that Japanese had plenty and highly trained, I dare to say superior to European one (got over 40 books read about Asian history). It's not something people choose at random but normally choose their faction and then have the map be the random part. Like battlefield when a map loads its sometimes japanese vs american or brit vs german etc.Īs it's effectively splitting the player base in two, like it was two games then. I dont see why you cant have certain maps pacific orientated and others western or southern front orientated. The Japanese would suck in the multiplayer which the game is built for. ![]() Relic does, they want to keep historical details. Lol having different vehicle armor upgrade does not seem to like a different way to play wtf? Plus, who said u have to be exactly realistic while this is a unrealistic pc game from the start? So have them as a cheap and sneaky could be done. They had tanks late in the war that were like the sherman or cromwell. infantry appearing at a secret location on the map. They had lots of light AT guns and artillery.Ĭall ins would be naval artillery or air support. they had LMG's, smg's rifles, pistols, mortars heavy mgs etc.infantry wise not much different to any other army and could be quite competitive and cheap.Īnti tank is where they might lack.however they did develop a bazooka like weapon late war. so i would have them in the game as cheap but effective infantry. In real life.and in terms of infantry the japanese were right up there with the best the allies had, and generally outnumbered the USA troops. The way i see it japanese would be a strong cheap early game army growing weaker with the late game but with powerful air and artillery call ins, and the sneakiest army around with ambushes and traps etc. the japanese had some late war tanks that were close to what the allies were fielding. i mean the pershing wasnt exactly in mass production but it has been in the game etc. However that aside if they didnt do that.then you could add in those late game units the japanese had that were more or less equal to allied tanks. So it would just be a switch, not a big deal you choose the map then the army that goes with it, why wouldn't it work? cause people want the faction that owns the most at any given point in time? it would be better for the game i feel.then you could perhaps toggle such a setting with a switch.
